Audi’s New Augmented-Reality App Is A High-Tech, Know-It-All Car Manual

To help its customers know its vehicles better, German carmaker Audi has created an innovative, augmented-reality app—named “eKurzinfo”—that uses the iPhone camera to identify the many functions of the car.

Loaded with information of more than 300 elements in the car, the app serves as a high-tech, interactive alternative to the traditional, complex car manual.

From a mysterious symbol on the dashboard to the location of the dipstick, the app will likely be able to answer your car-related question—simply scan the interior of the car with your iPhone camera.

Currently, the eKurzinfo app can be used on the Audi A1, Audi A3 and Audi S3, and is only available for iOS users—however, the Android version of the app is expected to be released globally by the end of the quarter.
