Hunterlodge has created an extensive social media engagement campaign which aims to deepen digital engagement around the prize – dubbed the ‘Nobel Prize of teaching’. The campaign is currently running on social channels under the hashtag #TeachersMatter and highlights the 50 extraordinary teachers nominated for their outstanding contribution to the profession. The Top 10 nominated teachers were announced recently and the winner will be announced on 13th March at the Global Education and Skills Forum.

The Global Teacher Prize is an initiative of The Varkey Foundation which was established in 2014 to raise the stature of the teaching profession. The Prize is an annual US $1 million dollar award given to an exceptional teacher who has made an outstanding impact, not only on their students, but on the communities around them. It operates the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.

Marc Boxser, Global Director for External Relations & Strategic Initiatives at The Varkey Foundation said: “Teaching plays a critical role within society and this award provides the ideal forum to celebrate the profession and acknowledge the exceptional dedication of teachers around the world. Hunterlodge impressed us with the quality of their ideas and we are delighted to be working with them on promoting The Global Teacher Prize.”

Rob Hunter, Managing Director of Hunterlodge Advertising added: “We are delighted to be working with The Varkey Foundation. Teachers fulfil such a crucial role within society and we are thrilled to be working on a campaign that highlights the inspiring work of all the shortlisted teachers.”

The winner of the prize will be announced at the Global Education and Skills Forum in March 2016 in Dubai.
