The Trevor Project & Miami Ad School create haunting ads highlighting LGBT suicide

The Miami Ad School and The Trevor Project – an organisation working to prevent suicide in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth community – recently partnered to create a series of ads highlighting that words can kill.

Copywriter Inga-Marie Sorensen devised the tagline ‘Words Can Kill’. The powerful ads show words like “dyke” cut into an arm; “fag”, “lesbo” and “queer” printed on while pills; and “homo” written with a knotted rope.

Debbie Yeh and Wai Chan from the San Francisco-based school were the two art directors on the project. Overall, the ads aim to show how bullying can drive LGBT youths to suicide.
