Trainline Opens the Door to Exciting New Possibilities

Brand platform ‘Great Journeys Start with Trainline’  launches in Italy

  • Linear TV and DOOH campaign rolls out nationally from today.
  • Created by DUDE:London, ‘New Friendships’ is a cute tale of a blossoming bromance between a mysterious forest monster and a backpacker.

Trainline, the leading European train and coach ticketing app, is set to simplify the process of finding the best train and coach fare. This frees up your time and mind, paving the way for discovering a multitude of exciting new opportunities and unexpected life experiences.

Today, the brand platform ‘Great Journeys Start with Trainline’ launches in the Italian market with a national connected and linear TV campaign and digital out-of-home created by independent creative agency DUDE:London.

‘New Friendships’ tells the heartwarming tale of a backpacker and a potential love interest (another advantage of using Trainline and having more leisure time for life’s joys) who stumble upon a friendly but mysterious forest creature living in the woods. There’s an instant bromance connection as the backpacker and the lovable monster strike up an unlikely but enduring friendship.

Jo McClintock, VP of Brand & Marketing, Trainline said: “How you start your trips can significantly affect how they unfold, so when it came to bringing Great Journeys Start With Trainline to life in one of our most European markets, we wanted to create a campaign that shows how a great and effortless start to your trips can lead to amazing, wonderful and limitless possibilities.

This new brand platform marks our first step in reinforcing ourselves as an integral part of people’s booking moments, owning the start of their journeys, and we couldn’t be more excited.”

Tomás Gianelli O’Ryan, Creative Director at DUDE: London, added: “Bringing Trainline’s new brand platform to life was a big and exciting challenge. Yes, we had a beautiful script, a great client who believed in it, and an extremely talented director. But despite all this, we still feel like the stars must have magically aligned to give this story that extra something that makes it really special (who doesn’t want to give a big hug to that monster?) And the best part is, this is just the start of a great journey, and we are very excited for what’s to come.”

Digital out-of-home will run from 26th November in Rome and Milan, with a second burst of activity later in the year. Media was by Wavemaker.
