Ralph Peskett, creative director at Neverbland saysthe sheer quantity of archival materials called for a robust technical infrastructure to lay the foundation for thousands of pieces to be threaded and served up across the site. Backstage with Bon Jovi was purposely designed to give visitors the sense of rummaging through masses of archives through use of SFX and a journey feel from flying through the 3D spaces. It’s a site that truly keeps giving. The user feedback has been wild with visitors reporting spending hours down the rabbit hole.”

To produce the rooms Neverbland referenced images of Jon’s actual music studio, backstage areas, and archive office to create bespoke 3D rooms to act as the gateway into various collections. 3 rooms featuring 50 custom items were created in C4D, compressed in Blender and implemented in WebGL.

Within just a few days of its launch, the website has attracted over 80,000 visitors and garnered more than 680,000 page views. Monthly releases are on the horizon for the next 2 years. Bon Jovi initiated this project as a heartfelt gesture to give back to the fans who have been unwavering in their support, providing them with an immersive opportunity to trace the Bon Jovi story—from the inception of his first song to the band’s 40th Anniversary.
