Dopper launches revolutionary solution for disposable bottles

Campaign by KesselsKramer introduces: a water bottle.

Ever since its founding in 2009, Dopper has been fighting against plastic-packaged water. Because disposable bottles create unnecessary tons of plastic waste every day, CO2 emissions from production and transport and pollution of the oceans.1 For example, the environmental impact of packaged water is 1400 to 3500 times greater than that of tap water.2

In a campaign by KesselsKramer, Dopper introduces the revolutionary solution. A groundbreaking innovation.

We call it… a water bottle.

In the campaign, the water bottle is introduced in an overly grand manner to show that the solution to one of the world’s most complex problems is actually quite simple.

To reflect that absurd simplicity, Dopper presents the water bottle as a never-seen-before innovation. Includes a grand announcement, professional renders and unique product features (it has a cap, you can drink out of it, you can use it multiple times).

Creative director Maartje Slijpen:

“Something small and obvious can sometimes have a big effect. A waterbottle is revolutionary, in case you use it. This campaign plays on that.”

With the launch of the campaign, Dopper also unveils its new pay-off: Just refill. This pay-off also works directly as a call-to-action, says Global Brand Manager of Dopper Fiona Mermans.

“Just refill your water bottle. That’s ultimately what we want to call people to in the first place. Ultimately, a water bottle is no solution if people don’t start refilling en masse/if people don’t change their behavior. Especially in a mature market like the Netherlands where the average household already has four Doppers in a cupboard and the tap water in Europe is mostly excellent. Just refill!”

The campaign can be seen in the Netherlands, Belgium and France from June 13.

1 The bottled water industry contributes significantly to the world’s plastic problem. That UN report from 2022 estimates plastic waste from this industry at 25 billion kg or 600 billion bottles per year.

A single-use plastic water bottle takes up to 450 years to break down into microplastics, which remain forever.Only 7% of all plastic bottles are recycled. Depending on the brand, it takes about 2 to 4 liters of water to produce 1 liter of bottled water.
