INNOCEAN BERLIN CHALLENGES THE FANTASY OF ADVENTURE WITH THE LAUNCH OF THE KIA ALL-NEW SELTOS

Adventure is often presented as a fairytale: perfect landscapes, blue skies and picture-perfect smiles. However, in practice, the reality of getting outdoors is rarely neat or predictable.

That tension is at the heart of Kia’s new “Built for Real Life” campaign, created by INNOCEAN Berlin to introduce the all-new Seltos, a modern SUV, to the European market. Rather than presenting an idealised vision of the outdoors, the campaign portrays adventure as it really happens raw, unpredictable and imperfect. Directed by Matvey Fiks, the hero film brings the idea to life through four stories set across four distinctly European landscapes. A hiker battles through thick mud. Friends navigate dense fog. A couple is caught in a sudden downpour. And two sisters chase a tent as it is carried away by the wind. These are the moments that tend to be remembered long after the trip is over.

“Every car in the C-SUV category sells a fantasy. The raw humanity of this campaign, an ironically rare quality in advertising, is what makes it special,” says Gabriel Mattar, CCO of INNOCEAN Berlin. “It doesn’t pretend that adventure is perfect. It shows the moments that make it memorable.”

The soundtrack plays with this contrast from the very first frame. Set to A-ha’s “The Sun Always Shines on T.V.”, the film sets an upbeat, familiar song against the realities of outdoor conditions: rain, fog and wind. The contrast supports the campaign’s central idea that everyday life continues in changing conditions, with the Seltos designed to accommodate them.

“Seltos is already a proven success in markets around the world.” Dante Zilli, Marketing Director at Kia Europe says. “Bringing it to Europe, we knew we had to make a bold entrance in a highly competitive segment. ‘Built for Real Life’ gives us a fresh and human way to introduce the Seltos to European audiences.”

The hero film leads an integrated 360° campaign spanning cut-downs, product films, out-of-home advertising, print, mobile brochures, an experience landing page and social content. The campaign’s central idea is carried consistently across every channel.
