The Independent integrated creative agency The Corner today celebrates its ninth month of independence, since it bought back its creative and financial freedom in September 2021. As the UK comes out of its third lockdown, the agency reflects on all that it’s achieved during not only a short space of time, but also in very trying times.
May 2021 saw the agency be awarded an IPA CPD Gold Accreditation for 2020 – a scheme that recognises and rewards agencies who demonstrate a genuine culture of learning, bettering the professionalism, development and reputation of the industry, enhancing clients’ brands and agencies’ worth as a result.
Additionally, Campaign listed The Corner 17th in Campaign’s Best Places to Work 2021 and at the end of April, The Corner won five awards at The Drum Recommends 2021 for Advertising, Brand Strategy, Strategic Thinking, Creativity & Innovation and TV/Video/Audio Production.
2/3rds of the way through a full year of freedom, the recognition garnered from the awards and accreditations won and received are a strong indicator that the agency is working steadily towards its ambition of becoming a modern brand transformation agency.
Neil Simpson, Founding Partner and CEO, The Corner said “We’ve been putting new building blocks in place to emerge better and stronger, and these awards are recognition of our people and our plan.”
Running in parallel with the positive workplace initiatives are the plethora of new wins. In nine months, during two lockdowns, The Corner has attracted five new clients – law firm Slater & Gordon, insurance site Policy Expert, Chanel, the European digital account for car rental chain Enterprise, and a project for adidas, all to sit alongsideThe Corner’s roster of brands that include Carlsberg, Coca-Cola, Batiste, Anglian Water and Jackpotjoy.
Big hires in 2021 have seen Stacey Stollery join as Head of People, Diversity and Development, the dynamic new creative duo GUAPP aka Paloma Gardiner and Alastair Milne, as well as hiring in design, brand strategy and data analysis.
During a period of time that should have been challenging, but was exasperated by a world turned upside, The Corner has come out not only fighting, but winning.
