OMODA picks Who Wot Why as first creative agency of record in the UK

Agency is victorious following a competitive pitch against three other undisclosed agencies

Major Chinese carmaker OMODA has appointed independent creative studio Who Wot Why as its first creative agency of record in the UK.

Who Wot Why will be charged with helping to launch the brand in the UK, following OMODA’s recent introduction of its pioneering and futuristic crossover SUVs to UK shores.

There is no incumbent on the account; to date, OMODA has launched in Europe with communications limited to online-only in the UK. The UK launch will be a key moment for the brand and will see vehicles available for purchase from a network of more than 100 UK dealerships.

Who Wot Why’s first work is due to launch in the fourth quarter of 2024.

OMODA is committed to innovative technology, environmental responsibility and building a vibrant global community of forward-thinkers. Who Wot Why’s specific task will be to successfully launch the OMODA 5, a C-segment crossover SUV, which will be available from launch in petrol and electric versions.

Yuan Wu, UK Brand and Marketing Lead OMODA and JAECOO, stated: “At such a critical moment in time for the OMODA brand in the UK, it is wonderful to have Who Wot Why’s passionate and committed team to work alongside us. Together we’re already making amazing things happen.”

Sean Thompson, executive creative director and co-founder at Who Wot Why, commented: “There are few companies that come to our shores with OMODA’s level of ambition. We are eager to bring our wealth of experience in automotive, most notably our learnings from our defining work on Honda. It’s an honour to be selected as OMODA’s first creative shop in the UK.”

Who Wot Why bags JAECOO to sit alongside OMODA win

Independent creative studio Who Wot Why has been appointed as the UK agency of record for JAECOO, its second appointment by Chinese carmaker Chery.

Who Wot Why will initially be charged with launching the JAECOO 7 premium SUV model in the UK. It is regarded by car insiders as a direct competitor to the Range Rover Evoque, but at a significantly lower price point.

Yuan Wu, UK Brand and Marketing Lead OMODA and JAECOO, stated: “At such an important moment for the JAECOO brand in the UK, Who Wot Why’s expert knowledge and creativity is really helping drive our brand forwards. Working together, we are creating the foundations to build a brand that lasts.”

Sean Thompson, executive creative director and co-founder at Who Wot Why, commented: “Off the back of our work for OMODA, we’re delighted to be able to dive in on the innovative new JAECOO 7. This SUV is a real gamechanger and will set the cat amongst the pigeons within the UK market thanks to its high-end spec but accessible on-the-road price.”

This is Who Wot Why’s second consecutive pitch win in the past month, following its recent appointment by OMODA.
