The production company 76 Ltd has signed up the renowned automotive director Nigel Simpkiss, who spent 12 years working on the BBC’s Top Gear, to its roster.
Simpkiss is well known for his perilous action sequences filled with breath-taking stunts such as Top Gear’s “Death Road Bolivia” film, and for films that feature demanding terrain coupled with beautiful car cinematography, exemplified by his latest commercial for the Chevrolet Camaro SS shot in Dubai last month.
As well as his television work, which also includes Movies’ Greatest Cars and Richard Hammond Meets Evel Knievel, Simpkiss has created films for multiple car marques including Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Bugatti, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Honda, Jaguar, Jeep, Lamborghini, Land Rover, McLaren and Nissan.
Mark Murrell, the executive producer at 76, said: “Top Gear has long been one of my favourite shows, so naturally I’ve followed Nigel’s TV and commercial career closely over the last few years.
“Watching his reel often leaves you on the edge of your seat and gasping for breath at the trials he has undertaken in the pursuit of getting the best car shots. You only have to watch Nigel’s films on the Death Road in Bolivia and the Claerwen Dam in Wales to see what I mean. Nigel shows the same passion we have at 76 Ltd for impressive car films and we are now extremely proud to represent him for commercials in the UK.”
