Creative agency Waste Creative has unveiled a new work-from-anywhere policy, giving full and part-time staff the opportunity to work from any geographic location for up to four weeks per year.
In recognition of the way in which the pandemic has transformed its people’s ways of working, and as an agency which always looks to challenge norms, Waste has chosen to reinvent its benefits and working practices.
Any of Waste’s full and part-time employees who have successfully completed their probationary period can submit a request to work from anywhere in the world, for a combined period of up to four weeks in any calendar year.
A number of Waste employees have already taken advantage of the new policy, with staff working from locations including Greece, Italy and Spain
Waste has introduced several other new benefits for its people since its acquisition by Keywords Studios in December 2021, such as life assurance and income protection.
Mike Petricevic, Co-Founder and Creative Partner, Waste Creative, said: “As we begin to move out of the pandemic and into a new way of working, it’s essential that we continue to review our benefits and ensure they are fit for purpose, reflecting how life is lived right now.
“Our people have “challenging the norm” in their job description, and we knew that many Wasters were wondering why they couldn’t work from anywhere in the world, given the fact that remote working has now become so commonplace. So, it made sense to give this new policy a try.
“Offering the team the chance to work from any location gives them more flexibility and a sense of freedom and agency. Plus, travel and new experiences are powerful tools to feed their creativity. We’re really excited to see how people make the most of this opportunity.”
Amy Duncan, Senior Strategist, Waste Creative, added: “When I heard about the new work-from-anywhere initiative, I got really excited thinking about all of the places that I could work from – and I took advantage of it almost straight away.
“I’ve not been to Greece since I was a kid and had a few friends who now lived there, so it seemed like a good place to go… plus the weather was absolutely divine. It felt great to shut my laptop at the end of the day and basically be on holiday without the required drama of the airport every evening. On the evenings and weekends I recharged much more than usual – and actually I felt that my productivity went up like crazy.
“It’s amazing to know that I get an extra month of travel a year, and I’m really glad that I work for a company that isn’t afraid to test new initiatives like this one. I’m already planning my next trip!”
