Weber, the world’s premier manufacturer of charcoal, gas and electric grills, grilling accessories and award-winning cookbooks has appointed Maxus UK to handle its media buying and planning activity across the UK. Maxus will begin work with Weber immediately in time to launch its spring/summer range. The account is worth around £3 million in billings.
Maxus won the Weber account after a three-way pitch. It is the first time Weber has appointed a dedicated media agency to handle UK activity.
Chris Trewhitt, country marketing manager, at Weber, said: “After the pitch process we felt that Maxus really understood Weber as a business and also where the brand wants to be in the future. We have an exciting new spring/summer range for 2016 and look forward to working with Maxus to showcase our full product line up.”
Nick Baughan, UK CEO at Maxus, commented: “Weber is the number one barbecue brand in the UK and has ambitious plans; it will be a really great client to work with. The UK barbecue market is extremely strong with sales rising by 26% in the last year and it’s great to be working with an innovative market leader.”
Weber was founded in 1952 and is the number one brand for barbecues in the UK.
