Cowry Consulting reshapes its top team as it targets international expansion

Behavioural science consultancy Cowry Consulting, part of VCCP Group, has announced changes to the structure of its top team in order to expand into other markets. The changes see CEO Jez Groom taking up the newly created role of International CEO whilst Ziba Goddard steps up from Deputy CEO to CEO, with responsibility to lead the UK business.

The restructure also sees the formation of a new UK management team, with Raphy March promoted to MD, also joining the team are Phoebe Kent and Sarah Murray who have been promoted to Consultant Directors. Phoebe’s previous role was Head of Behavioural Innovation, Sarah’s previous role was Head of Behavioural Architecture. Will Saunders will remain as COO in the new structure, which does not involve anyone leaving the company.

Cowry Consulting was acquired by VCCP Group in January 2023, and has successfully integrated within the group over the last 12 months, notably winning its first joint client with the creative agency, Keep Britain Tidy.

It has set international expansion as its next target, now that it has fully embedded, with Jez Groom visiting Europe, Asia and America at the end of last year to develop new opportunities for Cowry.

Jez Groom, International CEO, said: “We had an incredible year in 2023; joining VCCP Group, welcoming new colleagues and clients, and delivering some fantastic work. Whilst last year was very much about ensuring consistency for the business and managing change, we were also building a platform to look forwards and outwards at the possibilities for Behavioural Science around the globe.

“Cowry is all about transforming relationships and understanding how businesses can adapt their communications and their practices to unlock their potential – we’re looking forward to applying this to different scenarios across cultural and geographic boundaries, learning more in the process.”

Ziba Goddard, CEO, added: “We’ve done a great job over the last 12 months to set all of our teams up for success. We planned for disruption but actually embedded remarkably smoothly within VCCP. This new management team represents upward growth and progression for the business and for the strong team we’ve assembled to support our clients and UK colleagues in this next phase.”

All staff will take up their new roles immediately, with Jez Groom continuing to be based in the UK.
