Dubliners invited to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the ‘Other Dublin’ Cornett created tourism campaign launches in Dublin, Ireland

Dublin is a city known for its beautiful outdoor sites, quirky public art, and the largest three day Irish festival in the world.

No, not that Dublin. The other Dublin.

To attract visitors from Dublin, Ireland to the city in Ohio, Visit Dublin Ohio is extending an especially warm invitation across the pond in the month of March. Following up on their sitcom-inspired “You’re in Luck” tourism ads (complete with catchy theme song) created by ad agency Cornett, cheeky OOH billboards in downtown Dublin, Ireland, along with location-targeted social ads, makes an offer almost too good to refuse—free pints on St. Patrick’s Day.

Any Dubliner who makes the 3,566 mile (or 5,738 km) trek to their American counterpart  and lands between March 8th and March 18th will be rewarded with free pints of beer and plenty of “Visit Dublin” swag from the visitors center to take back home.

“Our name sometimes causes confusion,” said Visit Dublin Marketing Director Sara Blatnik. “So we think this is a good opportunity to have fun with the mixup and show off our Midwestern hospitality.”

With the new Aer Lingus flight route that flies from Dublin, Ireland to Cleveland, Ohio directly, Visit Dublin hopes this might be just the incentive needed to foster some cross-cultural connection. Newly arrived Dubliners can see the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on the 9th, sample a variety of drinks on the Celtic Cocktail Trail, or join the St. Paddy’s Day pub crawl on the 16th. They can visit Historic Dublin and Bridge Park, the trendy new Dublin hotspot with shops, local ice cream, restaurants and more. The Columbus Zoo, one of the largest in the United States, is only 10 minutes away. Plus, if they’re feeling a little homesick, they can pop by bars like the Dublin Village Tavern or Fado Pub & Kitchen and down Guinness with the locals to their heart’s content.

“We’re super excited to celebrate some fresh faces in our city,” added Blatnik, “We’re proud to share a name, but we’d love to share a pint…or a few!”
