• UNILAD calls on new government to change discriminatory blood donation policies, in its ongoing #BloodWithoutBias campaign
• Real blood taken at UNILAD and FreedomToDonate’s Illegal Blood Bank is being displayed in the capital today, demonstrating the healthy blood going to waste due to discriminatory policies which restrict gay and bisexual men from donating
• Blood on display was taken from gay and bisexual men at UNILAD’s Illegal Blood Bank – 100% of which was deemed perfectly safe to use but cannot be utilised to save lives because of the three-month deferral period in place
• The initiative was developed in partnership with pressure group FreedomToDonate and creative agency ELVIS
• NHS released an official statement in response to phase one of the #BloodWithoutBias campaign – The Illegal Blood Bank
• More than 3,400 gay and bisexual men have pledged to donate blood via FreedomToDonate and UNILAD
