Concept agency Zware Jongens has brought onboard a new creative director to further drive the company’s mission create genius-level concepts that spark chemistry between brands and people.
With the addition of a creative leader like Maurice Van De Ven, the agency further solidifies its approach to create truly disruptive work – where sharp collaboration with international doers and producers enhance creative outcomes for clients.
Van De Ven has a background to match the agency’s name (weighty boys). He’s held executive creative director roles at several integrated boutique agencies and a global media network. He also ran a bunch of weighty accounts, such as global creative directorship at StrawberryFrog (New York, Amsterdam) where he led P&G’s largest global brand, Pampers.
Maurice started his career as co-founder of an award-winning global cultural communications platform for Parisian fashion house Agnès b. Before moving into advertising at world-famous creative agencies KesselsKramer (Amsterdam) and later Mother (London).
Maurice joins Zware Jongens at a fortuitous time. As the agency builds on its proven and powerful approach to branding, spatial and communications concepts, Zware Jongens continues to propel projects everywhere, ranging from international clients to working with grass-root entrepreneurs.
The studio is currently a.o. rebranding a renowned coffee brand as well as developing a European-wide ‘Coffee Walhalla’ for them. It’s also creating a fresh bio-meat concept for the Dutch market, rebranding a Swiss legal firm, engineering a sharp customer journey for Belgium’s best fashion tailor, etc.
The next big challenge for Zware Jongens is expanding its creative and multidisciplinary design capability.
Zware Jongens co-founder Diederik Van Lieshout said: “Hiring Maurice sets the tone for where we’re going. We will continue to add top-notch thinkers and doers to our team and are focused on creating an environment where we can challenge ourselves and do our best work. With our approach resulting in meaningful transformation for our clients who are true disruptors and change agents within their industries.”
Maurice Van De Ven added: “People are so marketing and advertising savvy that they’re expecting and demanding both transparency and extraordinary experiences from brands. People are bored of predicable standard-template work that over promises and under delivers. Zware Jongens attracts progressive companies that understand what’s at stake and are leaning forward to embrace this new era. Being equipped with entrepreneurship and marketing skills, Zware Jongens is a hybrid concept agency and growth accelerator for its client – which is a pretty exciting space to play in.”
