Pearlfisher New York Strengthens Design Leadership Team with Two Promotions

As part of a wider leadership restructure that began in early 2020 with Hamish Campbell taking on the role of VP Executive Creative Director, Pearlfisher New York announced two additional key promotions instrumental to the studio’s ongoing strategy and focus on strengthening senior leadership. Associate Creative Directors, Matt Sia and Christian Bird have both been appointed to Creative Director

These promotions recognize Matt and Christian for continuously delivering a high calibre of creative excellence over the past several years – from projects to pitches to award wins and more. In their new roles, Matt and Christian will lead the day-to-day management of the design team while working closely with Hamish, to deliver exceptional work that embody the studio’s ethos of bold, lucid and unexpected design. Matt and Christian will bring their diverse and well balanced range of skill sets, working in strong partnership as joint Creative Directors.

Hamish stated, “The role of Creative Director is an important one, which both Matt and Christian have respectively earned through their extraordinary craftsmanship and overall impact. At Pearlfisher we value the significance of promoting internally and building talent, while having extremely high standards. Matt and Christian are a testament to the depth of creative talent and expertise that exists collectively across the studio and I know they will continue to deliver and push our creative standards to the next level.”

Hamish continued, “Matt joined Pearlfisher 8 years ago and it has been amazing to see him grow personally and professionally. From day one, Matt has brought a constant fountain of creativity, drawing on his vast experience and capabilities to consistently deliver outstanding iconic work. Matt is incredibly loyal to the entire New York team and is always happy to help or teach those around him. Christian joined the team a few years ago and has brought with him a range of knowledge and practice that has expanded Pearlfisher New York’s approach to our projects. His brand-first and big idea focus has driven incredible and unexpected work while his infectious experimental side, really champions the true unpredictable nature of Pearlfisher’s culture. I’m looking forward to continuing to collaborate with Matt and Christian to express and bring our big ideas to life.”

Matt added, “I’m proud to step into the role of Creative Director at Pearlfisher New York. The team is like family, and it’s been amazing to be part of such a talented group who care so deeply about the quality of our work. I’m looking forward to continuing to find ways to challenge and inspire the team to build meaningful brands alongside our client partners.”

Christian explained, “I’m excited to champion the strong Pearlfisher legacy of bold, lucid and unexpected with big ideas at the center of all we do. Everyone in our studio is truly exceptional, I’m proud to lead and work alongside such amazing talent.”
