Award-winning creative director Niall Kerry leaves global agency Anomaly to join independent agency Kit Studio, and strengthen its advertising offer.
Niall says, “Iʼve achieved everything I set out to do at Anomaly. Now Iʼm excited to bring that experience into an environment where I can apply creative integrity and adaptive thinking to every challenge.”
With a client roster that boasts ambitious brands, such as Square, TravelPerk and Gopuff, London-based Kit Studio may be deliberately small in size but it is far from naive. Founded in 2018 by Chris Bounds and Hannah Rea, the studio delivers exciting and effective work at pace, across brand, advertising and digital for both start up and global businesses. Most recently Kit collaborated with Square to deliver their Big in restaurants out-of-home campaign.
“Niall brings a wealth of experience creating standout campaigns and a deep understanding of how brands connect with people. His expertise will be instrumental in strengthening and expanding our advertising offer alongside our branding and digital work,” says Chris Bounds, creative partner and co-founder.
Niallʼs appointment comes as small agencies continue to gain ground and attention. Increasingly, global brands are moving away from the traditional big-agency model, favouring leaner, collaborative agencies who can work closely with in-house teams and make budgets stretch.
For Niall, Kitʼs collaborative approach is the appeal, “I like that they have this very close, respectful relationship with clients, really listening to what they want and using budgets with care, without sacrificing creative integrity,” adds Niall. “Their passion for making great work for the right reasons is rare – itʼs a real draw for me.”
Like many in the industry, Niall is clear that client expectations are moving away from pure advertising in the traditional sense and this informs his vision for the studio. As head of advertising, Niall will focus on leveraging Kitʼs agile, hands-on mode of working to deliver creative ideas that can be tailored to multiple channels and formats.
“When you have a small, adaptive team you work in a faster, freer way, without the baggage that legacy agencies often accumulate, and everyone has a voice.” Niall says.
