Snap appoints Jake Thomas as new UK business lead

Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, today announced it has appointed Jake Thomas as the new UK business lead, based in London.

Reporting to Ronan Harris, President of EMEA, Jake will take up the leadership role of Senior Commercial Director for the UK where he will be responsible for the development and implementation of Snap’s business and commercial strategy for the region, driving innovation and growth across key revenue streams, brand partnerships and monetization models. He will also be focused on building and leading Snap UK’s high-performing commercial team as it continues to deliver effective advertising solutions for its brand and advertising partners.

Currently Snap’s Head of UAE Operations having joined Snap in 2017, Jake leads the LCS (Large Customer Sales) and Agency teams in Dubai, scaling Snap’s revenue and business operations across the MENA region. Previously, Jake spent six years at LinkedIn establishing and leading their marketing solutions business across MENA, and began his media career at The Telegraph Media Group. Jake also holds board positions at the IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) and IAA (International Advertising Association) UAE.

Jake has been on international assignment to the UK for a few months as interim UK business lead following Bridget Lea’s departure earlier this year, and will take up this post full-time with immediate effect.

Snap is growing globally with 900m Monthly Active Users (MAU), well on the way to its goal of 1 billion MAU – and 460m Daily Active Users (DAU), an increase of 38m, or 9% year-over-year (Q1 2025). In the UK alone it has over 21m MAU. 

The Snapchat community is the Gen Z Generation reaching 90% of people aged 13-24, and 45% of UK Snapchatters are 25 years or older. The UK community is highly engaged, with Snapchatters based in the UK opening the app an average of 50 times per day and 70% using Augmented Reality (AR) lenses every day.
