Discovery & Visit California unveil ‘California Dreamers’ – a partnership showcasing the region’s top innovators

Discovery and Visit California announce a partnership to showcase the California state’s top innovators and creators on Discovery Channel UK, US, Canada & Australia, with original documentary content produced by Think Make Create.

The partnership includes four original short films California Dreamers written and produced by Think Make Create that celebrate California-based pioneers breaking new ground in their industries. The films will air on Discovery Channel in the UK, US, Canada & Australia in commercial airtime, and across their respective websites and social channels, from October 8th – December 31st. They will also be housed on Visit California’s new streaming app California Dream365TV.

The California Dreamers include:

  • Vera Mulyani, the founder of Mars City Design, which creates architectural blueprints for sustainable cities on Mars
  • The Esalen Institute, the long established centre for free-thinking, dubbed the ‘secret spiritual power-source’ of California
  • Env Board’s Daniel Del Toro and David Purser, the pioneers of biodegradable mushroom surfboards
  • John Cox, a chef, food innovator and champion of sustainable ingredients

The partnership also includes Think Make Create’s two-part documentary California: Innovation Nation. From the original ‘garage innovators’ and the culture of alternative thinking which gave rise to Silicon Valley, to the present-day pioneers whose ideas are reinventing culture, travel, food production and spirituality; this series gives a fascinating glimpse into California as a hot-bed of innovation. It will air on Discovery Channel in Australia and Canada in December 2018.

Patrick Maitrot, VP Ad Sales South Europe Switz and Latam – Discovery and Eurosport said: “We are thrilled to have partnered with Visit California to bring ‘California Dreamers’ to audiences around the world. The high-quality films tell the stories of some truly remarkable pioneers and reflect Discovery Channel’s dedication to creating content that celebrates the world in all its wonder, diversity and amazement.”
