Toronto-based brand consultancy and creative boutique LP/AD, announces that it has won the business of biotechnology and consumer products company Folium Labs Inc. The Canadian nutraceutical company has appointed LP/AD to develop the launch of its new cannabis wellness supplement brand, Livli.
The partnership will see LP/AD work with mother company Folium Labs Inc. to develop the branding and launch of nutritional supplements under its Livli range, which is aimed at addressing nutritional deficiencies for cannabis users. LP/AD will work closely with Folium Labs Inc. to develop the brand mapping, messaging, packaging and digital assets, including online eCommerce stores and influencer programmes.
Following Canada’s planned legalisation of cannabis on October 17th 2018, the Livli products are aimed at local cannabis users initially with a longer term view of targeting international consumers. The line is set to include supplements for long-term recreational cannabis users as well as day-after products to restore the balance of depleted nutrients and alleviate some of the possible lethargy after-effects of cannabis consumption.
Addressing the lesser considered impacts of cannabis use, CEO at Folium Labs Inc., Dmitri Boudovitch, says: “Cannabis in its pure form is a generally positive experience. However, the cannabis lifestyle doesn’t always mean that the body is getting the right nutrients. While cannabis may not necessarily make you feel drained, perhaps those nachos, skipped meals or other routine changes might. We’ve committed to making sure that cannabis is experienced to its fullest and our line of supplements will help to offset some of that imbalance.”
Commenting on the need for an even approach to the Canada’s legalisation of marijuana, Alex Shifrin, Managing Partner at LP/AD says: “Cannabis usage is a rounded experience, just like anything, there are highs and there are certain lows. Come the middle of October, everyone in the market will be talking about the highs of cannabis but there will lots of people looking to understand what the lows mean and how to manage them. Folium Labs is uniquely positioned to help address this and make sure that the entire category gets a lift.”
Alex says: “This assignment hits the sweet spot of LP/AD’s capabilities and background. We create brands, but we also have skin in game when it comes to understanding how to run a consumer retail business online. LP/AD has built and participated in other eCommerce businesses that the agency itself owns as a testing ground for new ideas and technologies. We feel this allows us to have a very different type of conversation with clients. When we come to the table with a plan to build, launch and grow an online retail store, this is an area that we understand from experience inside and out.”
