A bespoke rendition of The Beatles’ “Golden Slumbers, provides the soundtrack for the heartwarming story

60-second advert launches on TV on 6th November in the UK
On Friday 6th Amazon will unveil its new Christmas advert, Joy Delivered, a film built around the pull of getting home for the holidays and the kindness shown along the way.
Scored by a bespoke rendition of The Beatles’ “Golden Slumbers,” the campaign features a young woman named Joy, played by New Zealand actress Kate Laidler, who recently appeared in East of Eden. When severe weather cancels her flight home on Christmas Eve, she looks at the bag of gifts she packed for her family and decides nothing is going to stop her. She embarks on an epic odyssey, making it back thanks to the strangers she meets along the way. On each leg of the journey, she repays their kindness by gifting them an Amazon box from her bag, each one meant for a family member back home. Although she’s empty handed by the time she’s reunited with her mother, it’s clear she was the only gift they ever needed – Joy Delivered. The song’s opening line, “Once there was a way to get back homeward,” captures that longing for home, and builds to the emotional moment she’s reunited with her mother.
Alongside the big, show-stopping moments that define the holiday season, Joy Delivered taps into something more personal, the universal experience of coming home, and the small acts of kindness from strangers that help get us there. Joy Delivered was shot in New Zealand, which provided the story with several breathtaking environments that added even more scale and memorability to Joy’s journey.
The rendition of The Beatles’ “Golden Slumbers” blends alternate studio takes from the original Abbey Road recording sessions, while the costumes were imagined and crafted by Oscar-nominated costume designer, Malgosia Turzanska. Produced by Amazon’s internal creative team in partnership with production company, Smuggler, and directed by three-time Emmy Nominee, Mark Molloy, the advert will run as a 30-second, 60-second and 90-second spot nationwide across Broadcast TV, Video On Demand, Online Video, Cinema and Social channels.
