General Mills, the owner of some of the UK’s best loved food brands, including Nature Valley, Häagen-Dazs and Petits-Filous, has announced the appointment of Mark Brown as its Marketing Director for northern Europe.
The appointment comes as former Marketing Director, Richard Williams, moves to France to take up a position of Business Unit Director for Yogurt Europe & New Ventures within General Mills, tasked with growing the company’s Yoplait business.
With over 16 years’ marketing experience, Mark has managed a diverse range of high profile marketing programmes in his career. Having joined General Mills in 2011, he has run campaigns in the UK to support the Old El Paso, Betty Crocker and Jus-Rol brands. More recently he headed up global communication and innovation on Häagen-Dazs. Prior to joining the company he also held marketing positions at Mondelez, Kerry Foods and Weetabix.
Mark now assumes responsibility for the company’s marketing strategy across Northern Europe, overseeing its shopper and brand marketing teams, digital and CRM. He will be based at the company’s Uxbridge headquarters in west London, reporting to Managing Director Ben Pearman.
Ben Pearman, Managing Director of General Mills Northern Europe Cluster, said: “I am delighted that Mark has accepted this role at this vitally important time in the development of our business. He has a wealth of marketing experience and a track record in brand strategy and commercial performance and will add tremendous value to our leadership team.”
Mark Brown, Marketing Director of General Mills North Europe Cluster, added: “General Mills is a unique business that combines the scale and expertise of a multinational business, with the innovation and ethos of a start-up. And while the grocery industry is currently in a challenging place, we are excellently positioned for the future and I’m excited to help evolve our business over the coming years.”
Mark takes up his position with immediate effect.
