Jung von Matt London boosts creative team with four new hires

Jung von Matt London has boosted its creative firepower with the appointment of two new creative teams. Senior team Joe Roberts and Doug Redfern, and junior team, Alexandra Smith and Emily McIntosh.

Roberts and Redfern join the agency from Havas London. In their new role, they will report to ECD’s Charlie Hurst and Marcos Gemal and start work immediately on the global Mini business, which the agency won in February.

The duo has established a reputation for humour throughout their 8 year partnership, bringing their signature light touch to impactful work for a broad range of clients.

During their three years at Havas, they created a series of high-profile campaigns including “Grow like only a teacher can” for the Department for Education and John West’s tie-up with the 2024 ParalympicsGB athletes.

Roberts and Redfern joined Havas after four years at Engine, which they left just ahead of the transition to House 337. At Engine, they worked with actress Lily James for Sky Mobile, launched Greene King’s new pale ale, “Ice Breaker” and created work for the RAF.

The creative team met at Loughborough University, where they both studied graphic communication and together won the 2017 UK Cannes Young Lions competition for their “Safe Passage” refugee campaign. This year their comedy film, Mr Biscuit, was selected for the London Short Film Festival 2025.

Meanwhile, Smith and McIntosh partnered in 2023 and recently went viral on LinkedIn with their job post titled “We are hiring a new ECD… to be our boss”. The post attracted over 300,000 impressions globally and led to Smith and McIntosh joining JVM just 24 hours later, bringing a fresh perspective and energy to the team.

Charlie and Marcos, ECDs of JVM London said: “We are thrilled to welcome both teams to our expanding creative department. They each bring unique strengths, and we can’t wait for them to get started.”

Roberts and Redfern said: “After chatting with Charlie, Marcos, Rob and the talented team at JvM, we knew the journey they are on is one we had to be a part of. We can’t wait to get going.”

Shoreditch-based Jung von Matt London, which opened its doors in 2023, is one of the newest editions to the global Jung von Matt family, combining independent spirit with creative thinking from London.
