CHECKATRADE APPOINTS ST LUKE’S AS LEAD CREATIVE AGENCY

Checkatrade announce it has appointed St Luke’s as its lead creative agency following a competitive pitch. The pitch was run following an internal review after the appointment of a new CEO, Jambu Palaniappan, and new CMO Georgina Whalley in September 2023. St Luke’s was appointed after a two-way final shootout.

St Luke’s will be the lead agency of record for Checkatrade and its remit includes all through the line communications. The work will span both the Consumer and Trade offering as well as all brand communications and will start immediately.

Checkatrade is the UK’s most well-known trade directory, connecting consumers with quality tradespeople and tools to make home improvements easy and reliable.

The business was established in 1998 after rogue traders descended on the seaside town of Selsey, West Sussex following a tornado that caused damages to homes. Since its inception Checkatrade has stood for reputation and raising standards and in doing so has become a household name.

Georgina Whalley, CMO at Checkatrade said of the appointment: “We’re in an exciting place as a business. Working with an agency like St Luke’s will help us establish our position as the trusted foundation of every home, built on the quality and credibility of our members. It’s all about our mission to help create safe and happy homes with the tools and trades to make home improvements easy.”

Ed Palmer, Managing Director at St Luke’s, commented: “The energy and passion the Checkatrade team have shown throughout the pitch process has been utterly infectious. I’m delighted that St Luke’s has passed their rigorous checks, and we can’t wait to get stuck into creating the next chapter in this Great British brand’s story.”

Rich Denney, Joint CCO at St Luke’s added: “The whole of the UK can hum the Checkatrade tune. It’s such a quintessentially British brand that has become a household name. And now they have an exciting new team at the helm to take them into the next chapter. We couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with them to help them realise their ambition.”
