Envato Just Put “Creative Flow” to the Test in NYC—Here’s What Happened

Envato has partnered with artist Max Kolo to put creative flow to the ultimate test: creating marketing material for Gladiators NYC in a single day while working from the middle of a live armored combat event in Central Park.

The activation translates Envato’s “Creative Flow Activated” campaign into a live experience, building on their digital activity launched in May. Developed with Brooklyn-based agency SuperHeroes, the campaign responds to the growing complexity of modern creative work. With an ever-expanding ecosystem of platforms, subscriptions and tools to navigate, creatives can find themselves spending valuable time switching between tools, managing workflows and overcoming distractions. “Creative Flow: Activated” explores what becomes possible when creatives have everything they need in one place, allowing them to stay immersed in the creative process.

To bring the challenge to life, Envato partnered with Kolo on a social film that follows his journey from brief to final delivery. Tasked with creating a poster for Gladiators NYC—a medieval combat group whose armored knights battle monthly in Central Park—Kolo races across New York with his workstation in tow. Along the way, he encounters a series of increasingly surreal distractions, from subway pole dancers to packs of dogs, but remains locked in on the task at hand. Arriving at the battlefield, he completes the design from the middle of the action before presenting the finished work.

Throughout the challenge, Kolo used Envato‘s all-in-one creative asset toolkit, including mockup templates, fonts, stock assets and AI tools, to produce his design.

“The work that I create requires multiple creative assets, from graphics and stock photography to music and video,” said Kolo. “Having everything in one place means I can spend more time on the creative side of the work. Ultimately the work is better because I’m fully immersed in what I’m doing without jumping between platforms”

“Creatives don’t get to pause the brief when things get hard,” said Arlyn Panopio, Head of Brand and Creative at Envato. “We put Max inside a medieval gladiator battle in New York to prove that. One asset toolkit, everything he needed, no time to waste. Max stayed in control and delivered. That’s what Envato is built for.”

“Life throws so much at you: NYC as a city does that, as does our industry,” noted Rogier Vijverberg, Chief Creative Hero at SuperHeroes, “There are briefings, deadlines, all these tools with subscriptions. For creatives, it’s great to have one less distraction and Envato enables that with all the tools in one place where you need it most.”

So far, Kolo’s support of the campaign has amassed a combined reach of over 500,000 across platforms.
