International production company HAMLET has signed award-winning British director Chris Fowles to their roster for representation in APAC, Belgium, China and France.

Fowles began his career directing theatre before moving into commercials. He worked as a director’s assistant alongside acclaimed directors Gary Freedman, Guy Ritchie and Philippe André before establishing himself as one of the industry’s most distinctive performance-led directors, creating films that combine cinematic storytelling with authentic, emotionally resonant performances.
Inspired by directors including Dougal Wilson, Frédéric Planchon, Steve Rogers and Michael Spiccia, Fowles is passionate about creating character-driven stories that connect emotionally with audiences while embracing humour, humanity and beautifully crafted filmmaking. His collaborative approach with actors allows performances to evolve organically throughout casting, rehearsals and production, resulting in work that feels both authentic and cinematic.
Fowles has directed campaigns for Volvo, Microsoft, Xbox, Google, Kia, Nestlé, Renault and UNICEF. One of his most notable campaigns is Microsoft’s award-winning Xbox documentary, created during the Covid pandemic, which explored loneliness among older people and the unexpected friendships formed through online gaming. The film aired during the 2022 Super Bowl, earned five Clio Awards and three Cannes Lions, and became one of the most awarded campaigns in Microsoft’s history.
Chris Fowles commented: “HAMLET has been on my radar for years. It’s one of those companies that always seems to have interesting directors and make the kind of work people actually talk about, so joining them felt like a very natural fit. France, Belgium and APAC are also completely new regions for me. I think my style and sense of emotion & humour could suit those markets really well, so I’m excited to see what we make together.”
Jason Felstead, co-founder & EP, HAMLET added: ”Chris is exactly the kind of director we love working with — someone who puts performance and emotion at the heart of every film, whatever the brief. You feel it in every frame of his work, and it’s exactly the sensibility we think will be a great fit for HAMLET. We couldn’t be more excited to have him on the roster.”
Chris’s work has been recognised with five Clio Awards, three Cannes Lions, a D&AD Pencil, a UK Music Video Award, a Webby Award, a Cannes Young Director Award nomination and a 1.4 Award. His reel is here: https://hamlet.tv/be/directors/chris-fowles
