In the latest from the Spotlight series, Christina Bouzala, Keter’s Head of Marketing UK&I, reveals the brand’s ‘outside of the box’ thinking that led to a triumphant win in POY 25’s ‘Garden Lifestyle’ category…

Tell us about your winning product and why it resonates with the consumer.

Our marketing slogan ‘Looks Like Wood. Feels Like Wood.’ feels like a good place to start when describing the Keter Signature Storage Box. While yes, it’s a storage box first and foremost, it’s also quite literally, a part of the furniture – doubling as a stylish seat! Crucially, because it’s an alternative material (combining our unique DECoCoat tech), it has all the benefits of wood without the hassle of the real thing. It’s waterproof, durable, UV-protected – and thankfully, that also means it’s maintenance-free and won’t fade. It’s always nice to see an item we hoped would perform well; resonate with the people it’s been created for.

Where did the idea for the product come from/how does that process work at Keter (from ideation to creation)?

The idea for the Keter Signature Storage Box came from listening to our customers’ needs for a durable, stylish, and functional storage solution. We noticed that people were looking for a box that could blend into their outdoor spaces. Storage that they didn’t feel the need to hide, cover up or move out of the way. This inspired us to create a product that combines practicality with modern design – our Product of the Year winner!

What trends will you be tapping into this year?

‘Multifunctional garden spaces’ is an area of continued interest for us at Keter. Helping people create places where they can socialise, relax, work, exercise… We’ve already invested in our burgeoning range of multifunctional, compact & modular solutions within our ‘Furniture’ range. We’ll also continue to build on our weather resistance and low maintenance products. Who knows what kind of summer we’ll have, but having a weather-proof product for rain or shine, is a nice assurance that at least your gardenware will remain intact.

What are the plans and ambitions for Keter/the product in 2025 and beyond?

As a brand, Keter will continue to invest in cutting-edge technologies and trends, ensuring we remain at the forefront of the garden and homeware industries. Looking ahead – we’ll also be exploring new designs and functionalities that cater to the evolving consumer needs and deliver products that combine practicality, durability, and style. What impact do you hope winning Product of the Year will have on the product?

Winning Product of the Year is a tremendous honour and a powerful endorsement of the Keter Signature Storage Box’s quality, innovation, and consumer appeal. This recognition helps build trust and confidence among consumers who may be discovering our product for the first time, and we anticipate that it will drive demand for the Keter Signature Storage Box as a go-to solution for stylish and functional storage.
