Hertz introduces first-ever “car connoisseur” in new national campaign created in partnership with AOR Preacher
When people think about renting a car, they may picture something basic or well used — simply a way to get from point A to point B. With Hertz, the experience goes beyond the expected, giving customers access to newer vehicles with the latest features and technology for a more comfortable, enjoyable drive. With the majority of its fleet under a year old, Hertz helps travelers start every trip in a car that feels fresh and modern.
Now, the leading car rental brand is shining a spotlight on its modern fleet with the launch of a new national campaign that inspires customers to pair the perfect new car with every new adventure.
The national campaign, “New Car Pairings” introduces Hertz’s first “car connoisseur”: a playful and all-knowing rental car guide that helps customers choose the right car for the right situation – from stargazing, to fishing, to just plain cruising.

“New Car Pairings” was created in partnership with Hertz’s agency of record Preacher and directed by London-based duo Zhang & Knight. The work will run in varying versions across national CTV, digital, and paid social, taking viewers from the Hertz lot to their next adventure, wherever that may be.
“Can choosing your rental car be as exciting as the trip itself? Well, no. But ‘New Car Pairings’ adds a bit of that magic. It’s a playful, intuitive way to show how our app can so easily pair you with the type of new car that’s perfect for your next trip,” said Brian Canning, Chief Marketing Officer, Hertz Car Rental.
“Our aim was to help Hertz craft something that would cut through the repetition and media fatigue often associated with car rental campaigns,” said David Byrd, Creative Director at Preacher. “We layered the films with intricate set pieces and practical transformations, ensuring that viewers will discover something different with every viewing while getting the overall feeling for the unique rental experience Hertz has to offer.”
