In its struggle to dispel controversy around the payday loan sector, Wonga has created a film featuring 12 of its customers who it claims have spoken unscripted about a part of their lives that required them to take out a Wonga loan.
Gary Tarn, the BAFTA-nominated director behind documentaries Black Sun and The Prophet, was allegedly given full creative control over the 12 Portraits project and chose the people featured in the film from a database of customers who had volunteered to tell their story.
“The film is more a reflection of modern Britain today, and Wongaâs place in it, than a documentary on the company,” said Tarn.
