Hungry commuters were treated to a nostalgic trip to the arcade this morning as they discovered the 2-metre high ‘RooMachine’ installed in Waterloo Station.
Inspired by the experience of using a classic slot machine – including the thrill of winning – the RooMachine offers players the chance to pull the lever and spin the bespoke rollers to win.
In a fun foodie twist, commuters play for samples from some of Deliveroo’s best loved restaurant partners including; Hummingbird Bakery, Yo! Sushi, Press, Crosstown and Farmstand… with a couple of jackpot surprises thrown in!
The machine took nearly 400 hours to design and prefabricate and includes bespoke mechanical components that utilise race grade bicycle gears and industrial print machinery cogs and chains.
Deliveroo spokesperson, Dan Warne said: “Whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner, deciding what to eat is always difficult – especially if you’re at work all day and don’t have the time to think about shopping, let alone prepare something yourself! We hope The RooMachine will get people excited about meal times and the great choice we have on Deliveroo!”
The RooMachine will be touring the UK over the summer.
