Media and entertainment business Time Out is branching out with the unveiling of a culinary and cultural experience that promises to combine high-end food, drink and art.
Time Out Market New York will be located on a prime waterfront site overlooking the East River, sandwiched between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.
Opening in the fourth quarter within a repurposed historic coffee storehouse, it will be the first of a new breed of destinations with similar ventures planned for Miami, Boston and Chicago through 2019.
The expansion push comes as Time Out reported a 19% increase in year-on-year revenues to £44.4m on the back of a global monthly audience reach of 217m across all platforms, representing growth 39% year-on-year.
Julio Bruno, chief executive of Time Out Group, said: “New York has been home to Time Out since 1995, and millions of people – locals and visitors – use our website and read our magazine to make the most of the city. Now we have a breathtaking location for Time Out Market in New York. It will offer not only the city’s best food, drinks and culture, but also one of the city’s best views.”
Elsewhere, Time Out has been busy relaunching the Hong Kong edition of its magazine after wresting full control of operations across Singapore and South Korea.
